Siteo Akang and his Paddy Thrasher Machine

Siteo Akang explains about the paddy thrasher machine on how it works and functions to En. Shukri Ali, from Haliza Ventures Sdn bhd and Dr Othman Omar, from Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia.

      Siteo Akang, a mechanic and paddy farmer in Keningau, Sabah. Siteo knew the hardship of other paddy farmers who cultivate paddy fields in search of income. They cant afford to buy a paddy thrasher machine even it is really needed.
     Thus, Siteo Akang has created his own medium-sized paddy thrasher machine to solve the problem faced in his community. With the knowledge that he have, Siteo managed to increase productivity, reduce workload and increase the production of paddy farmers in Sabah. His innovation gives big impact in paddy farmers communities.

Hamid Jasmin, innovator of Micro Hydro

     Far above the mountains, Kampung Libang Laut is left behind in terms of technological modernization due to its geographical constraints. The villagers live with high expenses to receive electricity.

The picture above shows the overall space used for Micro Hydro Power System. The bottom left picture shows the discussion between Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia members with Hamid Jasmin during the due diligence processes. The bottom right picture shows the Micro Hydro innovator, Hamid Jasmin .

     Hamid Jasmin, a diligent school gardener and also a dedicated village chief told us that he quitted school when he was fourteen years old. "Despite of not receiving high education, I managed to invent this with all the knowledge that I have that God gives me.", Hamid found the solution to his village's problem, he innovated Micro Hydro Power System.

     His Micro Hydro system utilizes a small river to generate enough electricity to 20 houses in the village every day. With the help of Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia and High Impact Programme (HIP6), Hamid Jasmin's innovation is now being improved and replicated to benefit other rural communities in Sabah and also in Peninsular Malaysia.

Hamid Jasmin & His Micro Hydro


Visiting the site where Micro Hydro, a grassroots innovation product is implemented for the communities surrounded by the area to receive more cheaper electricity at Kampung Libang Laut, Tambunan, Sabah.
May 9, 2016, another trip to Kampung Libang Laut Tambunan, home of a micro hydro generator station.This time the focus is on Mr. Abdul Hamid Jasmin, the person who created a micro hydro system using automotive parts to generate rural electricity.
